It’s the beginning of a new year, and a perfect time to start planning and dreaming of everything you want to fill the new year with; all the things you want to experience, places you want to visit and cultures you want to explore.
It’s a time to take a good look at your life and the direction you’re going, get back on the right track and finally do all the things you’ve dreamed of doing.
The other day we were sent this cool video by an independent project with a contest being sponsored by hotel.info - in the project they had interviewed people in London, Paris and Rome about travel.
They asked them questions such as “how would you ideally fill the book of your life with travel stories?” “what makes you feel alive whilst travelling?”.
It’s a great video and a good inspiration for those putting together their 2013 bucket lists.
In the contest you can win 10 nights in five European cities plus spending cash (€2,013) to fulfil those dreams!
Click here to join the competition – it ends on the 15th of Feb 2013!
So for all of you who make the excuse of not having the money to pay for your travels, here is your chance – and while you’re at it, make a goal for 2013 to stop making excuses
Here are some places on our bucket list for 2013:

Japan – While we really wanted to go to Japan last spring, after watching “Japan’s Wild Secrets” on National Geographic we want to go there more now than ever before.
Israel – From skiing on Mount Hermon to swimming in the dead sea, Israel’s compact size has a huge variety and a vibrant culture. We would love to explore the diversity from the cosmopolitan party city Tel Aviv to the traditional country side.
Italy – Italy is home to some of the most beautiful places in Europe, we doubt that we will ever feel finished with this country. Sicily’s volcanic landscape, Tuscany’s purple fields and Cinque Terre’s cliff-clinging villages and rugged coastline are the places we most want to visit.
Morocco – Some hate it, others love it, but I say take it all with a pinch of salt. Morocco is an interesting country, and the blue town Chefchaouen would be awesome to see.
Iceland – Few places are as diverse and beautiful as Iceland, and we have been wanting to go there for a long time.
What’s on your travel bucket list for this year?

On my bucket list have been for ever the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos islands, in 2013 they will not be on my bucket list any longer as I already planned and scheduled my trip for April & May 2013
I went to Italy and Morocco, the other places on your list are still on my list as well.
Awesome, great to hear you’ll finally be able to see them! Have fun
Quite a big list for me this year…
- Keep on exploring the UK
- Croatia
- Italy
- Spain
- Argentina
- Chile
- Antartica… We will see what 2013 brings…
UK is gorgeous, would love to see more of it too. Hope you get to fulfill some more places on your list.
Ooh to make a realistic bucket list would be difficult as this year we’ll very likely be completely ‘independent’ for the first time ever so I think we’ll be on a tiny little budget this entire year. But Italy… we haven’t spent a year not visiting Italy since we first went there some 8 years ago. The Cinque Terre region is one of the most beautiful areas we’ve seen so far, a definite must-go for you guys!
We may also try to visit Scotland this year but I sure hope the weather will be better than usual…
I can see why you would want to go back to Italy, there is so much there to see.
Scotland is beautiful, we must have been pretty lucky when we were there as we only had two mornings with rain.
Hope you get to explore a sunny Scotland this year!
Japan, Morocco and Iceland are on my list too! I also added Washington DC since I figured I should so the capitol of my own country, haha!

Driftwood and Daydreams
Haha I had the same thought a couple of years ago, it’s amazing how much we travel and explore the world without ever traveling much within our own country.
I was just thinking about this! On my list are the Dordogne Valley in France, South Tirol region of Italy, Ireland, Czech Republic and more of Germany.
Nice! The Dorogne valley looks beautiful, and Tirol is an amazing region. Hope you get to explore some of the places on your list.
Hi Sofia!!! Love the idea of a travel bucket list. I have many destinations on mine. This February I will ski Jackson Hole which has been on my list for years. Sicily in March is another. 2013 is off to a GREAT travel start
Two great places there, it’s my dream to ski in Jackson hole, hope I too make it there soon!

Great to hear, yeah hopefully we make it there some day soon. New Zealand is absolutely wonderful, definitely a place you must visit
Hi Sofia, I can strongly recommend every one to visit the green paradise Wayanad. A nice place situated in Kerala, India. I am sure your travel is going to be a memorable one. Also I would like to appreciate your effort for making such a wonderful website for the travel community.
Thanks for your comment Joseph, Wayanad seems lovely.
Very Interesting , people i suggest you visit countries like UAE, India and check out their tourist spots.
Tanks for your suggestions Jean
My bucketlist is all travel based.
For the first time in December I left the package holidays to try a city break. I went to Paris for a week which was amazing so it has lead to capital cities being on the list this year!
I’ve planned a trip to Stockholm in July which will be amazing!
Also:
Bruges
Berlin
Amsterdam
London
and another trip to lochness
I think that’s all my Budget can possibly endure!
I’m extremely excited to leave Kavos and the linkes behind!
Hi Daryl,
Great to hear you tried a new way of traveling last year and enjoyed it so much. Stockholm in July will be perfect, make sure you take a boat trip to the islands.
The rest on your list are also awesome places, have fun!
Hey Guys,
We are currently compiling our itinerary for 2013, we have a twelve month visa for New Zealand so are super excited to explore as much of the country as we can. All the best for your adventures this year. I hope you get as much of your Bucket List crossed off as possible!

A year in New Zealand sounds amazing. We spent 3 months there traveling all over the place and still didn’t get to explore all of it!
A few of yours are also on my list! Not sure how many we’ll get to tick off this year but we always chip away at it =)
Hi Andrea,
Thanks for your comment. I hope you get to see some of your places on your bucket list this year
On my bucket list this year is Ireland and I leave in July with three generations of my family.
