We’ve been living in a remote village called Vulpera high up in the Swiss alps for about 4-months now.
It’s quite a hard place to get to (don’t ask how we got here :p), and it always has been.
When Switzerland was taken over by German, French and Italian people they didn’t bother
putting any energy into this place, it was simply too complicated to get to, so the village got to keep their own language (called Romanch) and traditions. Today this place is the only one in the world where Romanch is still alive, everywhere else the language has died out.
I’m not surprised, this place is like a world for itself. The real world is outside the valley.
It is however one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.
I could go on taking about it for half this page explaining the snowy mountains, the houses with no straight walls, the people speaking their dying language – but lets not…
You know how they say you can never have enough of the good life?
Whoever said that was wrong!
You can – I’ve had enough of this Winter Swiss Paradise.
- I want to get back to the real world.
- I want fast Wi-Fi.
- I want an oven.
- I want nightclubs.
- I want shops.
- I want to get back to modern 2010… I’m not kidding! :S
I’ve had an amazing experience and I’m truly greatful for it.
I’ve barely ever stood on a pair of skis and now I live right by a ski field with Nathan (yeah he is a Ski Instructor) training me up for the next winter olympics (not quite, hehe but I’ve now learnt how to ski!)
I’m mindblown by the way we’ve managed to live in one of the most expenisve countries in the world, without having to work for more than 5 hours per week.
But we’re starting to feel like we’re done here – like this chapter is coming to an end.
So what better way to start a new chapter than with a short stroll around europe before heading back to Sweden.
We are leaving in 3 weeks and are thinking of spending 3 weeks doing a random trip around Europe – random as in going onto www.ryanair.com and simply picking 6 random countries, booking the flights and adventure time!
Any ideas for places we can visit?
We would also love to meet up with fellow travel bloggers so if you are currently in Europe, why not give us a holla and we can hang out!
We have Dublin, Glasgow, Berlin and Verona in mind, what do you think?
