Site Review: We’ve been asked to check out, and review the hotel search engine Hotel Calculator, and share with our readers what we really think.
Saving Time.
What I personally like about Hotel Calculator, and what makes it different from Hotels.com, Booking.com etc. is that Hotel Calculator searches them all – they compare prices from 28 different hotel reservation agencies, and online search sites to find you the best deals.
By using this tool I found you can really save a lot of time, since you won’t have to visit each site individually trying to find a good deal, Hotel Calculator makes sure they’re all gathered here in one place.
A Simple Process.
All you do is write the city you want to stay in, choose which dates, how many people and how many nights, and click the search button.
Some other search engines only have the countries and certain cities to choose between, whereas here you can search any city you like.
I tested how well it worked by searching for both small villages and big cities over the world, and it really did work surprisingly well.
The results were up quick (way faster than the promised 30 seconds), the only places I searched that it couldn’t find were villages on islands like in Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.
They make it really easy for you to filter, and customize the search just for you. You can sort your search not only by the popularity, or cheap – expensive /expensive – cheap, but also on how central they are, if you want 5 star hotels first or 1 star hotels first, and the highest and lowest scores.
You can also narrow it down to specifics such as access for disabled, 24 hour reception etc.
Despite the site being a hotel search engine, I found some pretty good prices for those budget travelers out there as well.
In a search for hotels in Chiang Mai, Thailand, I found many hotels with prices starting at 8 EU/11$, which is the same price you can find on hostel search engines.
The iPhone App.
They also have an iPhone app that I found worked great. It’s simple, clean and easy to use.
It was very similar to their actual website, and just like on there you can sort and narrow down your searches, choose to view the hotel results on a map to get more of a feel on where they are and how central it is.
You can book the hotels straight from your iPhone and if you have any questions they have all the contact details on the application as well.
I recommend you check out the Hotel Calculator website, and also download their iPhone App.

Recession tourism is a travel trend, which evolved by way of the world economic crisis. Identified by American entrepreneur [[Matt Landau]] (2007), recession tourism is defined by low-cost, high-value experiences taking place of once-popular generic retreats. Various recession tourism hotspots have seen business boom during the recession thanks to comparatively low costs of living and a slow world job market suggesting travelers are elongating trips where their money travels further. http://www.elal.co.il/ELAL/English/States/General/
This is a great App I might download it.
