As We Travel - Traveling Tips, Destinations, Videos & Travel Blog

Belize is a refreshing and diverse destination where the people are friendly and the landscapes are breathtaking, and is one of our places to visit before it’s too late. It’s a fantastic place for enjoying the beach and the jungle. In fact, one of the major decisions facing anyone who wants to visit is whether to choose a Belize beach or Belize jungle resorts. Both offer advantages. Particularly fortunate travelers may want to consider dividing their time between two resorts to enjoy the best of both worlds. As this isn’t a realistic option for everyone, it’s probably necessary to choose between the beach and the jungle. The attractions of staying close to a Belizean beach are obvious. Belize is well known for the quality of its waters and sand. Guests can spend the day soaking up the sun or playing active water sports. Scuba diving is excellent in the area, with the barrier reef being the most popular attraction for viewing colorful fish. Most beach resorts are attached to nearby cities, guaranteeing a good variety of shopping, restaurants and other attractions. Belize also has some of the Top Beaches in Central America to escape winter.

Nonetheless, it’s difficult to forego the opportunity to stay amid Belize’s lush jungles. Inland resorts are a great choice for the visitor who wants to hike extensively and explore the country’s natural beauty. In addition, staying in the jungle may provide better access to Belize’s rich collection of ancient ruins. These long abandoned Mayan cities are fascinating. Many have been extensively excavated and some visitors could spend days just wandering through them.

Belize Beach and Belize Jungle Resorts

Clearly, both beach and jungle resorts offer plenty of attractions. To decide which way to go, visitors must simply reflect on what kind of getaway they’d like. Those craving urban excitement in the evenings and relaxing days by the water would definitely be better served by an ocean resort. On the other hand, people with a taste for ancient cultures or eco-tourism might enjoy a jungle hideaway. A wealth of both styles of properties can be found in this tiny nation. Belize Tourism Board has a very informative website that can give you a taste of this wonderful English speaking country.
Matachica Belize Beach Resort
One of the best beach resorts is Matachica. It’s found close to the world’s second largest coral reef, making it an ideal choice for snorkelers and divers. A private, white sand beach promises plenty of opportunities for relaxing in style. A convenient water taxi service to nearby San Pedro means that guests can always get to town for entertainment and variety. The Matachica property boasts 26 villas, most of which are single casitas while a two bedroom villa caters to larger parties. The color scheme is vibrant yet soothing. Somehow Matachica is able to successfully combine the traditional and the modern for an interesting and tasteful aesthetic. Upscale linens and air conditioning guarantee comfortable nights. Most villas have private patios and hammocks. Some casitas are located directly on the water, putting the ocean right at the feet of lucky guests.

Other amenities at the resort include a luxurious spa, an infinity pool and the Mambo Restaurant where gourmet food is served in an elegant atmosphere. Guests spend their days playing in the surf or riding bikes. Local tour groups operate helicopter tours, and some visitors enjoy cave tubing or para sailing. The resort provides a number of different package deals to make trip planning a breeze. Guests who are particularly interested in fishing, diving or another activity may be able to reserve a package.

Places to visit Before It’s Too Late

Belize Coral Reef

Another excellent choice for those wanting to be close to the water is the Grand Colony Island Villas. Guests choose from between beach front and pool view villas. Each villa boasts either two or three bedrooms, so this property might be a smart choice for larger groups traveling together. Moreover, the villas are fully equipped with kitchens, washers and dryers and separate living areas. Guests appreciate appointments like granite countertops and stylish furnishings that surround them in luxury for the duration of their stay. The beach is only about 25 feet away from the beach front villas, so relaxing on the sand is a snap. Many guests choose to dive or snorkel in the area, and the ocean is perfect for swimming. While there is no restaurant on site, the resort is located in San Pedro, so finding great dining is never a problem.
Gaïa Riverlodge Belize Jungle Resort

Belize Jungle Resorts

Visitors who prefer a jungle setting might want to consider Gaïa Riverlodge as their first choice for accommodations. As a full service eco-tourism destination, this resort is a favorite with travelers who believe in leaving no trace on their journey. The property is nestled in the midst of the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, and it takes full advantage of the gorgeous natural surroundings. Landscaping is lush and beautifully highlights native plants and flowers. A river flows nearby. Several breathtaking waterfalls demand to be admired. Guests can reach the falls on foot or on a hydro powered rain forest tram. Freshwater pools are found on site, offering the perfect chance to cool off.

The 16 cabanas feature a variety of perspectives on the gardens, the mountains and the waterfalls. Spacious, tastefully decorated rooms create a fitting retreat from the bustle of everyday life. Guests enjoy luxurious amenities and wonderful seclusion. A restaurant and lounge overlook the waterfalls for unparalleled views. Three meals a day are served, and the menu always includes Mayan and Belizean dishes. Guests might spend days exploring the trails and watching the birds and other wildlife. The lodge also organizes several tours that take guests to Mayan ruins or on horseback rides. It’s similarly possible to explore caves, enjoy zip-lining and try out rock climbing.

Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge is another stylish choice. It’s located within the Sibun National Forest Reserve. As one of Belize’s best small hotels, guests are guaranteed a personalized experience surrounded by luxury and the beauty of nature. Rooms take advantage of local woods and granite to give them an authentic Belizean feel. Creations by local artisans are used to decorate each room. With only nine guestrooms available, it’s best to book early. Many people are anxious to experience this unusual resort.
Belize Jungle Ruins
Margarita Creek runs alongside the property, providing a tranquil place to relax. Guests get a different perspective from the Creek Side Lounge, a second story spot that’s ideal for relaxation and enjoying the sounds of the creek below. The property’s restaurant offers hearty home cooked meals that draw upon the cultural influences of many nations. Guests have plenty of options when it comes to keeping busy. Sleeping Giant offers caving tours, rappelling adventures and a variety of trips to Mayan ruins. Jungle safaris and horseback rides are also highly sought after.

Travel to Belize is a Fascinating Destination

Belize Beach and Belize Jungle Resorts

Belize Beach and Belize Jungle Resorts

Belize is a fascinating destination. It is also a small country, which makes it fairly easy to enjoy both the jungle and the beach. Despite its diminutive size, Belize offers a spectacular variety of things to do and places to explore. It’s possible for visitors to spend their days napping and soaking up the sun. They can take a dip in the ocean to cool off or enjoy the underwater beauty that is found along the coral reef (second largest in the world). Alternatively, guests might enjoy something a bit more active. Treks through the jungle and zip-lining are just the beginning. Of course, it’s possible to simply relax and listen to the sounds of the jungle too.

Choosing which type of Belize adventure to enjoy isn’t always easy. Thankfully, the country is small enough that it is possible to enjoy both the beach and the jungle in a single visit. For a more in depth exploration, it may be necessary to make a return trip, with one visit focusing on the beach and the other on the jungle.

Ideal vacations can easily turn into nightmares sometimes and can get frustrating for the tourist who may not find suitable accommodation or has no idea about accessibility to travel attractions. This article provides you information about some things to expect from Costa Rica vacation packages that will allow you to enjoy your trip without hassle, inconvenience or worry. There is so much to see, do, learn, and enjoy in Costa Rica, not the least of which is its internationally-renowned coffee, 850 or so bird species, surfing, turtle nesting tour, and natural hot springs that even adventurous and seasoned travelers will welcome Costa Rica vacation packages for the sheer convenience.

Considered to be South America’s most diverse vacation spot, Costa Rica offers the tourist a wide variety of attractions that are easily accessible. The country’s vast and abundant natural resources alone – volcanoes, Costa Rica rainforests, mountains, waterfalls, and beaches – are perfect for vacationing families, honeymooning couples, nature lovers, and adventure seekers alike will welcome Costa Rica vacation packages as well.

Why a Costa Rica Vacation Packages is Convenient

When you opt for a Costa Rica vacation package, you don’t have to deal with airfare bookings, hotel accommodations, and car rentals, among other details that are mandatory for a trip. A vacation package will save you time and effort to eliminate the hassle of confirming every detail. Vacation packages take care of even the minutest element that is important for your enjoyment.

Most providers of vacation packages offer all-in options, from bookings for airfare and hotels, tour guides, car rentals, transport service to and from the airport, and several amenities such as discounts, freebies, and the like. Research on vacation packages way ahead of your planned trip to make an informed decision on choices such as guided tours or customizing your own travel itinerary. The Most Memorable Costa Rica Attractions

Some Advantages of the All-In Vacation Package

Most Costa Rica vacation packages offer the all-in option. This allows you to obtain all the services and food consumption of hotels besides the standard inclusions of laundry service, tours, accommodation, and travel guide and save money which you can spend on other things such as souvenirs or a artisan-made product like coffee from Costa Rica family-owned farms.  Another advantage of vacation packages is the discounts that are usually given to tour groups and families. Some providers offer the option of pairing your family with another family as part of their travel advisory service. This is a chance for you, and your kids, to make new friends while on vacation or it could be a business opportunity as well.

What You Can Expect to See and Do From Vacation Packages

To give you an idea of how extensive a vacation package can provide you with attractions, consider inquiring about the following from your vacation package provider before you take that trip:

Canopy Tours

These tours were popular in the last years but they continue to be in demand among tourists. Whether your choice is a gondola ride, an educational trip through treetops or a thrilling zip-line ride, canopy tours have much to offer every man, woman, and child. And because there are almost 50 locations in Costa Rica for this activity, you will never run of out choices.
Costa Rica sustainable tourism Monkeys

Bird Watching

La Selva Biological Station has a superb trail system that weaves through various natural habitats to introduce you to one of Costa Rica’s finest locations for bird watching. Or you can size up those beautifully colored and exquisitely-feathered species at the Caño Negro National Wildlife Refuge, where you can watch massive birds of the aquatic species gather or nest.

Whitewater Rafting

Of course whitewater rafting is ubiquitous in this country covered in lush rain forests, with some that rise from the ocean at 12,000 feet and then drop abruptly to sea level. Ask if your chosen vacation package provider has whitewater rafting activities included in the itineraries and, if they don’t, discuss any possibility of including one that will cater to your ability level.

Surfing and Beaches

Legend has it that Christopher Columbus coined the Spanish words “costa rica” or “rich coast” to describe the plethora of beaches that, even then, peppered this Latin American country. Although Costa Rica’s ocean waves are highly praised by surfers the world over, you can also enjoy sailing, snorkeling, scuba-diving, swimming, and sunning in the country’s numerous beaches. Costa Rica Surfing: 9 Reasons You Should Spend Weekend

Coffee Tour

What would be a Costa Rica vacation without a coffee tour in the vacation package? Coffee was the catalyst which begun Costa Rica’s steadily rising economy. You not only satisfy your craving and curiosity for your favorite morning upper but you also learn a few things about the history and culture of Costa Rica’s original inhabitants, the indigenous tribe known as Tico.

Costa Rica Vacation Packages - Costa Rica Arenal Volcano

Costa Rica Arenal Volcano

Volcano Watching

Visit Costa Rica’s premier locations for volcanoes: Arenal, Irazú, and Poás with their fire belching, lava flows, and smoking boulders. These volcanoes are exciting even for those who have seen volcanoes before but for those who have no idea how volcanoes do what they do, these are the places to ask you vacation package provider to include.

Nature Cruise

Your vacation package just has to include a nature cruise that covers the Caño Negro wetlands, the mangroves found at the estuary of Damas, and the Tortuguero canals. This slow boat ride beats the gondola variety of Venice where the water has become polluted. In Costa Rica, a boat ride is a refreshing way to spotting wildlife and birds surrounded by a clean, clear, and fresh scent of water.

Hot Springs

Another attraction that should be in all Costa Rica vacation packages is one of the country’s pride and joy: the hot springs which is as plentiful as the volcanoes in this Latin American country. Perhaps as a result of the abundance of volcanoes, hot springs in Costa Rica are nearly everywhere. Hit these natural pools of water to relax tired muscles and spend a restful night afterwards.
Costa Rica sustainable tourism

Enjoy Your Vacation in Total Comfort

Have a vacation that’s free from inconvenience, hassle, and worry by taking a vacation package which can pre-determine your itinerary even before your airplane lands at the airport. The coverage of your sightseeing experience can only be matched by the excellent service from the hotel and car rental or transport service which your Costa Rica vacation packages has included for you. With vacation packages, your hotel accommodation concerns for safety and security are addressed, you are able to access and explore many different parts of the country which may be otherwise difficult to reach on your own. Best of all, Costa Rica vacation packages give you the chance to you experience different sights and sounds of another, albeit very interesting, culture.

Few destinations included in your itinerary are as suited to romantic holidays as the wild coastline of Cornwall. This remote spot was all but completely culturally separated from the rest of England until a couple of centuries ago. It boasted its own language, some words of which are still widely used, and a thrilling connection with smuggling. The dramatic, rocky coastline is the perfect place for a couple to enjoy romantic holidays. With the opportunity to stay in a cozy Cornish cottage and to pick up some one-of-a-kind souvenirs, Cornwall is the very definition of a romantic getaway3 Great Reasons to Visit Cape Cornwall, England

Romantic Holidays in Cornwall

The best way to ensure a romantic escape is by choosing the perfect accommodations, and a good place to start is with the essentials. Fortunately, Cornwall features numerous lodging options, and none of them could be considered ordinary. Many working farms offer cottages that were designed with lovers in mind. Guests enjoy as much privacy as they wish while cuddling in front of a fireplace or soaking in a Jacuzzi tub. Outside the cottage are spectacular views of the rolling fields or the ocean along with plenty of walking trails for intimate rambles through the wilderness.

Romantice Holidays Portwrinkle

Romantice Holidays Portwrinkle

Among Cornwall’s best attractions are its beaches. Try Portwrinkle or Porthgwarra for picturesque views and a lack of crowding. These are some of the best places to enjoy a picnic or a leisurely stroll hand-in-hand.

It’s no secret why couples love to visit the Port Eliot House and Garden at St. Germans. Once a monastery dating back to the third or fourth century, the structure underwent extensive renovations during the 18th century by owner Sir John Sloane. The gorgeously decorated house is only the beginning of the attractions. The stunning gardens are highlighted by rhododendrons that are greater than a century old. They provide the ideal spot for a lovely picnic. The many summerhouses and the secret maze garden are also of particular interest for those with an eye toward romance.

Of course, Cornwall’s most romantic setting just might be Tintagel, which legend says was King Arthur’s birthplace. There’s no better place for lovers to imagine themselves as a knight errant and lady fair as they traverse the castle ruins and gaze into the mysterious Merlin’s Cave. A stop at the nearby village is a must for seeking out a crystal ball or magic wand.

Couples will also adore one of Cornwall’s many artists’ colonies, like St. Ives. The village boasts a beautiful beach, unrivaled scenery and fantastic light, which is probably why so many artists have settled here. Visitors wander the winding cobblestone streets at will searching gallery offerings for a unique treasure to take home.

With so many romantic experiences available, it’s no surprise that Cornwall is one of the best spots in the world for romantic holidays.

The best health resorts in Italy will help you to relax and greatly enhance your quality of life. Most people rush through life taking little time to care for themselves. They hurry from one responsibility to the next, neglecting to indulge in the relaxation and recreation that could greatly enhance their quality of life. Even worse, they don’t make opportunities to eat a healthy diet or regularly exercise. Sometimes that holds true on vacations as well. It’s all too easy to rush from one must-see sight to the next. Once again, there’s no time to relax, enjoy and feel the regenerative effects that a good vacation should bring.

ADLER BALANCE Best Health Resorts in Italy to Help You Relax

Hotel Adler Balance is located in the picturesque Val Gardena, a northern Italian valley. It’s a region recognized for outstanding outdoor recreation like rock climbing, hiking and skiing. One of the valley’s villages is Ortisei, which hosts the Hotel Adler Balance. Only about 6,000 fortunate people get to live in Ortisei, but this is a village designed to cater to the tourism industry. Visitors love strolling along the center of the village to discover quaint shops and one-of-a-kind eateries. Local history and culture is explored at the Gherdeina Local Heritage Museum or during one of the many annual festivals.

While the valley, Ortisei and the Dolomites are lovely, most people come here for the wellness resorts. Foremost among these is the Hotel Adler Balance. In all public areas and private suites, resort management has provided painstaking attention to detail. There are no jarring lines and no wrong notes in the color choices. Everything is designed to soothe and relax. From the muted music pouring softly from state-of-the-art speakers to the tasteful art collection, the Adler Balance is aimed at producing a calming effect. It’s virtually impossible to feel rushed here. Ordinary stress simply melts away under the influence of muted tones and beautifully designed furnishings.

Each suite is luxuriously appointed to cater to an excellent night’s sleep. Sliding glass doors allow in copious amounts of natural light. Even better is the balcony that lies beyond. Each is equipped with a comfortable seating arrangement and a breathtaking view. Back inside, guests enjoy spacious proportions that are enhanced through the use of natural building materials and textiles. The bathrooms are particularly impressive. Each has an extravagant wellness tub where guests can soak their cares away. The tea bar and minibar featuring organic fruit juices are welcome alterations on the usual hotel room offerings.
ADLER BALANCE

While it would be tempting to spend inordinate amounts of time in the suites, there are plenty of enticing activities to experience elsewhere. The hotel offers a number of different packages, each of which is tailored to the guest’s specific health and wellness goals. Some packages are designed to enable weight loss while others provide helpful strategies for coping with stress. The main idea is that guests utilize their time at the hotel to learn new techniques and then apply them to their everyday lives back home. The result is a happier, more fulfilling lifestyle in which the individual is better able to balance responsibilities with taking excellent care of themselves.

Adler Balance achieves this goal using a number of methods. In the gorgeous dining room, guests enjoy items from a diverse menu of al a carte meals or adhere to a nutrition plan that is personally designed for them by the resort’s medical personnel. Regardless of which option is chosen, diners can expect superior cuisine that draws heavily on fresh, local produce and traditional dishes.

The theme of health and wellness is also exemplified in the property’s Water and Wellness World. It’s a sumptuous oasis of indoor and outdoor pools, spas and saunas. A splendid hay sauna resides in a picturesquely rustic mountainside hut while a decadent salt lake hides deep underground. The area is dotted with relaxation zones that are ideal for napping and reading. After a difficult day of spa treatments, there’s no better place to unwind.

In some destinations, it’s best to do things strictly by the book. A person could visit Los Angeles, for instance, using a reputable guidebook and could have a perfectly acceptable experience. They’d hit all the highlights of the area and probably avoid some of the grittier neighborhoods.  However, other destinations (Traveling to Thailand) definitely deserve to be explored in a manner that’s more off the beaten path. A little unscripted wandering in these places means being able to interact meaningfully with local people and to experience their culture in a way that simply can’t be achieved when a traveler is chained to a guidebook.

Mysterious Thailand

One of these places is Mysterious Thailand. It’s an ancient, majestic and mysterious place that’s worthy of years of exploration. Unfortunately, most people who visit here don’t have tons of time to really absorb the local flavor. While a guidebook might be enough for the casual visitor, someone who wants to really delve into the depth and complexity of Thai culture won’t be satisfied with that experience.  As with any foreign civilization, the best way to view it is with the assistance of a local. Someone who has grown up with and is fully immersed in the Thai culture can open doors for the tourist who wants to go beyond the well-known temples and palaces. It makes for an intimate, highly personalized experience the likes of which would be virtually impossible to duplicate without having a local friend or two.

Mysterious Thailand

Mysterious Thailand

Fortunately, the Withlocals website makes connecting to local experts a breeze. It makes one-of-a-kind experiences a reality in a way that just wouldn’t happen otherwise. Imagine being able to dine in a private home, enjoying authentic Thai dishes that were prepared by a host who has been learning to craft traditional meals since childhood. It’s definitely not the kind of evening that would happen in even the finest restaurant in the nation.

Travelers visiting mysterious Thailand can go way beyond the major attractions with the assistance of a local guide. Hosts can arrange for a vast array of experiences. Depending upon their specialty and interests, a host might provide a lesson in Muay Thai, the nation’s style of martial arts. Others offer cooking lessons, tours of the local marketplace, or provide insider tips on how to get the best deals on locally made wares.

Hosts are friendly and accommodating, which makes it easy to arrange for a tour, activity or meal. There’s simply no substitute for being able to visit a temple or museum with someone who can bring the local perspective to the adventure. By sharing their thoughts and memories, hosts bring the Thai culture to life in a particularly personal way. They help visitors to understand not only what the Thai lifestyle is, but also why and how it has evolved the way it has.

Hosts on WithLocals.com are fully vetted, so visitors can rest assured that their experience will be safe and memorable for all the right reasons. More than one tourist has made a lifelong friend by using this service. It’s possible to arrange for a tour or other activity well in advance, but sometimes the hosts can be quite flexible when it comes to accommodating last minute requests.

Each experience is unique, and it is often possible to make special requests that the host is willing to tailor to the taste of the visitor. For instance, enjoying a home cooked meal with a local family is one of the most asked for experiences. The visitor may arrange for their own transportation, but in many cases the host provides a knowledgeable escort who can see them safely to the home of their host. Visitors are immediately put at ease by a warm and gracious welcome, and special dietary requests are respected. Each individual is treated like an honored guest and can expect to enjoy the finest Thai style hospitality. For many visitors, it is these unique, one-of-a-kind experiences that become the most memorable part of their visit.

Tourists may also arrange to observe some of Thailand’s most interesting festivals with a local host. Songkran, or the New Year’s Day celebration, is particularly popular. Many people also choose to visit on Ghost Day, traditionally known as Pi Tha Khon. Unique Thai festivals take on far more significance with a local guide. It’s a wonderful way for visitors to understand the meaning behind the celebrations and better appreciate the traditions and legends that are incorporated into each.

While there are a number of reputable, well-written travel guides on the market, none of them can truly compare with having the guidance of a local insider. No book can possibly contain information on every attraction, festival and restaurant in Thailand. That’s why a local friend is so indispensable. With their assistance, greater understanding and appreciation is possible. It turns an interesting experience into a remarkable one, and mysterious Thailand definitely deserves to be appreciated in all of its complexity.

Some destinations are so packed with must see sights that it’s virtually impossible to select which ones to visit. London is an excellent example of such a destination. It’s an ancient city that successfully blends a lot of modern glamour alongside venerable locations. Experiencing it all would require several lifetimes. That’s why the Discovering London Tour is such an amazing idea.

Rather than being overwhelmed by the prospect of “doing it all” in London in a short space of time, the Discovering London Tour helps tourists get acquainted in a personalized way. It just might be the best value for visitors who only want to hit certain highlights or who want to see what London is like beyond the guidebooks.

Each Discovering London Tour is hosted by Peter Berthoud, an expert on the city’s history and culture. Every tour is unique and tailored to the visitor’s specifications. That means no scripted dialog and no inflexible routes. In fact, people who book a tour have final say as to all the stops that the tour will make. That’s because each tour is for a small, select group. They choose which sites they want to see and which sights should be left out. Moreover, because groups are limited in size, many more destinations within the city are able to accommodate them. Being able to enjoy a professional tour guide without the hassle of a massive group is definitely a major advantage.

With the help of their guide, visitors can craft a few hours or even a few days of superior sightseeing. All of the major London attractions can be placed on the itinerary. Alternatively, people who are looking for a more behind the scenes look at the city can request to be taken to places that are off the beaten path. The result is a highly personalized experience that no one is likely to forget.

As an expert guide, Peter Berthoud can provide visitors with an insider’s view of London. He shares stories that most people are unfamiliar with, and his conversational style immediately puts people at ease. Each tour is conducted at the pace the participants request. That means being able to stop for breaks or allow for a detour if a sight that’s not on the itinerary catches someone’s eye. These are authentically customized tours that are designed to save the traveler time, money and energy.

For anyone who is unfamiliar with London, these tours can be a lifesaver. Chances are good that time in the city is limited, so a Discovering London Tour is the best way to maximize the experience. However, these tours are also beneficial for locals who are hoping to discover a new side to their city. Peter has spent years developing familiarity with all of London’s twists and turns, and he loves sharing his knowledge with others.

If you are from a big city, travelling to western Canada is a bit of an unreal experience. Suddenly beautiful mountains, fresh air and a sparkling ocean are right in front of you. And if you are a skier, that experience is even more shocking. For any avid skier who learned how to snowplow on small domestic hills, the first time you experience a more natural snowfall underneath your skis on a huge freshly-powered mountain, you probably had a pretty typical reaction; something like, “What the heck is going on?! This is awesome!” Now that you know what you’re missing, it’s time to take your skiing to the next level with a heli skiing vacation in British Columbia, the ultimate way to travel and see the slopes.

Heli Skiing Vacation – The Slopes Like You’ve Never Seen Them

Maybe you’ve heard of this sport; maybe you’re still in the dark about it; or maybe you’re just plain skeptical, but regardless of where you stand, there’s a good chance that once you learn more about what the sport entails, you’ll be strapping on your skis and booking a plane ticket faster than you can say “powder.” So, what’s the big deal about helicopter skiing? And why should you consider it as your next epic winter vacation with your family or friends?

Quite simply, you get to be ferried via a helicopter to what essentially becomes your very own amazing natural slope. You’ll get flown to a region that is world famous for its quality and incredible terrain. Even if you’re not the most seasoned athlete, a helicopter ride across the BC wilderness will result in stunning photographs of natural wildlife. You’ll have access to an area that dwarfs the quality, size and landscape of any other North American or European resort, yet be secure in the knowledge that you are in the care of experts with decades of experience creating bespoke ski and snowboard tours for small, private groups. Plus, you’ll have nearly unlimited vertical, more than enough for a trip of a week or more. But, be sure that you’re ready for really serious powder and hip deep snow!

Heli Skiing Vacation

Heli Skiing Vacation

Of course, you’ll have to be prepared when you start planning the best heli ski trip, as heli skiing does require a few bits of gear that aren’t necessary when hitting the slopes at a resort. You’ll likely need even more layered clothing for sub-zero temperatures and a backpack fit for glacier travel equipment. Also, you’ll want freeride or “all-mountain” skis because they are less tiring and handle tough terrain more easily. The same goes for snowboarders, who will need similar wider powder snowboards. The whole point of trying out a helicopter trip to hit the powder is to lose yourself in snow (not literally!). Skiers and snowboarders who will get the most out of a heliskiing trip are the ones who go with the flow, forget work, day to day life and stress, while they carve out their own adventure in pure, unpolluted powder on Canada’s most pristine mountains.

And best of all, when you finish a day after getting dropped into the powder, you’re going to be tired…in a good way. And what better way to take care of that than a private cabin with a hot tub and amazing views of one of the most breathtaking natural scenes in the world? Have a soak, a drink and world class meal as you rest up for your next day’s adventure! If you love to travel and like seeking out unusual terrain, this could be the trip of a lifetime.

New York is packed with every type of cultural attraction, countless entertainment options, as well as the best shopping experience on the planet. Coming to this city means getting to visit famous places like Times Square (New Year’s Eve Fireworks), Central Park, the Empire State Building, and Grand Central Station. Here are just some of the great things you can see and do during your visit to this amazing city:
New York City

Non-Stop Entertainment in New York

The main entertainment areas in the city are to be found in Midtown Manhattan, and this is where you’ll find the Theatre District and Times Square. Madison Square Garden is considered New York’s event arena, with about 320 events per years, and this can be found at Pennsylvania Plaza. Some of the best venues in the Theatre District are to be found on Broadway such as the Winter Garden Theatre, Ambassador Theatre, and Lincoln Center Theatre. Some of the most talked-about productions in the world can be seen on Broadway, and many visitors come from around the world just to see them. Going to a show can be expensive, but you can cut costs significantly by getting to the theatre early – most theatres have rush tickets which are discounted tickets for the first 20 people to arrive.

Time Square is the heart of Manhattan, and it is sometimes referred to as ‘The Center of the Universe’. Many of the best entertainment venues are in easy reach of here – this is where Broadway, 42nd Street, Seventh Avenue, 47th Street intersect. Times Square is most famous for its New Year’s Eve celebrations, and its amazing billboard display. Some of the best bars and nightclubs in the city can be found close to Times Square, and it is a great place to start a night on the town.

New York is known as the city that never sleeps, and if it is fun you are after, you have come to the right place. There are over 18,000 restaurants to choose from, serving every type of food imaginable, and if you are in the mood to party, there are around 2,700 bars and nightclubs.

Cultural Attractions in New York

The number of cultural attractions in New York is staggering, and you could visit the city many times and only scratch the surface of what is available. There are over 2,000 museums and art galleries, and walking around Manhattan can mean getting to see something interesting around every corner.
New York American Museum Natural History
The American Museum of Natural History at Central Park West is one of the largest museums in the world with over 32 million artifacts. It covers an area of 1,600,000 square feet, and there are displays focusing on ancient history, local history, and popular culture. It take a lot of time to explore this museum, so you might want to come here more than once.

If you want to get a better understanding of the history of New York, you need to visit Ellis Island Immigration Museum. It is usual to visit here as part of a tour that also includes the Statue of Liberty. Over 12 million immigrants came to the US through Ellis Island when it function as an immigration checkpoint, and the museum tells the story of those people.
New York City Metropolitan Museum Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art (better known as The Met) is the biggest art museum in the US. There are over 2 million pieces in this collection, and it covers every style of art from around the globe including European Art, Islamic Art, African Art, Asian Art, ancient Art. This is another venue where you need to go more than once in order to fully appreciate it.

Best Shopping in New York

If you love shopping, you are going to adore New York. All of the top brands have large stores in the city, and there are many famous department stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Saks, and Tiffany’s. This is also a great city to come to if you are looking for a bargain – many visitors from the UK and elsewhere save money by shopping here instead of at home.
New York Madison Avenue Shopping
Madison Avenue is the place to go if you are looking to splash out a bit of cash on luxury items. Some of the most expensive shops in the world are to be found here, and this is where the elite do their shopping – if you enjoyed the series ‘Sex in the City’, you’ll have a reasonable idea of what Madison Avenue is all about. Some of the most popular stores here would include Prada, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, and Jonathan Alder. This might not be the best place to go if you have fresh credit card and poor impulse control.

If bargain hunting in markets is more your type of thing, you will find plenty of opportunities to do this New York. Most of the flea markets, where you find the cheapest deals, are only open at the weekends, and this would include venues like West 25th Street Market, Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market, Brooklyn Flea, and East 67th Street Market. There is also a nice selection of Farmer’s Markets in the city including Union Square Green Market and Grown NYC (various locations around the city).

Adventure in New York

If you are a bit of an adrenaline junkie, you will be able to find plenty of adventurous things to do in New York. For a unique view of Manhattan, you might want to try kayaking on the Hudson River – alternatively, you could enjoy the delights of the city from inside of a helicopter. If you want something that is both fun and adventurous, you could join in one of the organized scavenger hunts. There are also places like Central Park where you can get some exercise and escape the madness of the city for a few hours.
New York Hudson River Park

Off the Beaten Track in New York

It is a nice feeling to leave New York in the knowledge that you have done more than just visit the most popular tourist attractions. Getting off the beaten track is your chance to better get to know the city, and see things that other visitors usually miss. Some of the places that are less visited by tourists would include Governor’s Island, Fort Tyron Park, Roosevelt Island, and Bryant Park. Most of Manhattan is safe to walk around during the daylight hours, and just doing some exploring is probably the best way to get off the beaten track.

Getting the Most Out of New York

We’ve only had time here to scratch the surface of some of the stuff you can see and do during a trip to New York. There are so many options that it is tempting to try to fit too much in, but this can make your visit less enjoyable. It is a much better idea to think about the delights of New York you most want to enjoy and choose a few of these.

Un Chien Andalou

“But now the stars, concealing landscapes,
reveal the perfect schema of their courses. ”
Federico García Lorca

The night sky in the autonomous community of Andalusia is among the most vivid in Europe; with the milky way stretching languidly, high above and between the brighter constellations. Thanks to its relative isolation and subsequent lack of light pollution it is common to see shooting stars arc across this mountainous region; thrilling to watch the Hunter and the Archer battle for supremacy within the all consuming darkness.

Andalusia Spain Mountains

Andalusia Spain Mountains

In his Ode to Salvador Dali, the co-creator of Un Chien Andalou (An Andalusian Dog), Lorca gives us the briefest glimpse into the landscapes and fiercely independent cultures that inspired both his poetry, Dali’s painting and the passionate relationship that the two shared. At times, imbued with a surrealism worthy of the modern master; where the sliver, white, red and yellow soils daub the mountains of Almeria: and at others, a sense of the solitude and isolation found within the Tabernas Desert and Lorca’s body of work are almost palpable.

Andalusia Home of the Ancients

Spanning the southern coast of Spain from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and sharing a border with Portugal with a southern extreme that reaches across the straights of Gibraltar to North Africa, it is perhaps unsurprising that Andalusia has a rich and vibrant history that gives its major cities a certain modern mythology. Seville, Granada and Cordoba; Malaga, Jerez and Cadiz are all documented within ancient manuscripts and scrolls, spoken within the hushed walls of monasteries and mosques; in Greek, Latin, Arabic and the countless dialects that populate the region.

Ancient harbours that once saw invading Greeks, Phonecians, Romans, Carthaginians and countless other civilisations have now given way to fishing, and then tourism, with each stretch of coast providing something for travellers of any predilection. The brash, high-rise-party-life of Malaga and Marbella give way to the much quieter resorts north of Almeria; a favourite among Spanish tourists and locals. Here, seafood straight off the boat is still found at reasonable prices in many of the seafront restaurants.

Independent and Diverse

“….the whole of the southern lands is too vast and varied to be embraced as a single unit. In reality there are not two, but three Andalusias: the Sierra Morena, the Valley [of the Guadalquivir] and the [Cordillera] Penibética ”
Andalusia Spain
Antonio Domínguez Ortiz

The region is split into eight provinces, each as culturally distinct as the next, however, the essence of Andulausia is dictated as much by its geography as it is by its people. Climb some 1332 meters above sea level to the north and you will reach the peak of the legendary Sierra Morena mountain range; a mass of granite and quartzite that tells tales of banditos and the child raised by wolves. Further south lies the Guadalquivir valley with Spain’s longest river snaking its way through the marshy lowlands to the mediterranean. Futher south still and the Cordillera dominates, with the imposign peak of Mulhaven stretching 3478 metres above the Sierra Nevada.

From the frozen peaks through the burning desert to the breezy coast, the flora and fauna of Andalusia is also surprisingly diverse despite its seemingly barren exterior. For travellers with a penchant for the natural world, and with a soft enough step, Andalusia is home to the Iberian Lynx and Wildcat, the Iberian Wolf alongside countless wild foxes and dogs. Eagles soar high above the peaks and wild boar are in abundance, sharing the peaks and valleys with Ibex, otters, badgers and mongoose that skitter through the cacti, almond and olive trees, citrus plantations and wild thyme.

Fabulous Fiestas and Fantastic Food

During summer, when temperatures across the length and breadth of Andalusia often rise above 40 degrees, the pueblos and provinces explode with colour and light, music, flamenco and food washed down with delicious Andalusian wine. In fact, with more than three thousand fiestas celebrated throughout the year, travellers looking for an authentic slice of Andalusian culture can simply hop from one party to the next. Among the largest fiestas to be held during the summer are the Granada Music Festival, The Moors & Christians Festival, the Cherry Festival and the Jerez Horse Festival although perhaps the most important fiestas for locals are the Grape Harvest and the Bull Fighting Season.
Andalusia Spain
Outside of Spain, the barbarous art of bullfighting has fallen out of favour in recent times, however, a resurgence in the popularity of the beef that remains means at least nothing is left to waste. Formerly, the meat was handed out during fiesta, providing poor villagers with a rare opportunity to eat beef, however, with the advent of intensive farming it was often discarded or cremated. Now, thanks to shifting ecological perspectives and opinion leaning towards traceable meat, this beef has been making its way into gourmet restaurants as an eco-friendly alternative to farmed beef.

Bullfighting, like many “Spanish” customs, actually began in Andalusia and has remained an important and controversial part of life in the community. Much like the wild boar hunt, one reason why the species remains so abundant in the region, has continually provided excellent food for local consumption. The deep red, spicy chorizo is another staple alongside giant paella made to feed entire villages at a time whilst the Jamón de Huelva is protected as a Denominación de Origen, meaning a unique taste and supreme quality is always assured.

Whether you are looking for a beach holiday overflowing with sun-drenched night-owls or the tranquillity of the stars in rural Andalusia, it is a rewarding choice for those who can spend more than a short break. Perhaps if you are short of cash then this company, that provides short term loans, may help you strike out into the rolling hills and gorgeous valleys. Indulge in local custom and taste everything the community has to offer as you travel through its disparate provinces and enjoy the year round sunshine. Finally, don’t forget the wealth of historic sites on offer in and around the many towns and villages as you explore the home of some of the earliest Europeans.
