Budva, Montenegro has many nicknames: Balkan’s St Tropez and Montenigrin Miami are a few of them.
Budva was different from most other places we had been during the Europe Train Challenge, both in nature and in experiences.
The Old Town of Budva was one of the cutest we’ve seen, and we really wish we could have spent a few more days exploring the neighboring towns and beaches.

A nice old city nearly ruined by long lines of tourist trash and pole dancers along the waterfront………………
the old town is really nice, there were many tourists like you say, but you could also get away from it all if you wanted.
Definitely planning on being there next summer, good stuff as usual guys!
Thanks Scott, Budva is a nice alternative to the more typical beach destinations and there are a few other cute places around, I really liked it there..
yeah, As Croatia is getting more crowded, it seems like it may be a nice alternative.
Saying Budva is a “nice alternative” to Croatia is like saying milk is a nice alternative to water – true, but meaningless. Budva is a good resort for youngsters, but I would not recommend it to mature travellers.
Budva is also very crowded (like some Croatian resorts), so don’t go there if you want to get away from crowds.
There are plenty of better resorts in Montenegro (and in Croatia, Greece, France, Spain, Italy etc etc) for the more discerning tourist who may want smaller crowds.
