Well, honestly, the only reason that is valid for me is the last one. I can deal with the rest because I take them as necessary and unavoidable risks. I have a totally different attitude to waiting or stress when I travel than when I'm at home and I hate routine anyway. I like trying new food and I know when to avoid stuff that might create me problems. Whne I travel I walk a lot so I'm never out of shape when I return. As to friends, I'm trying to travel with friends and anyway we keep in touch by phone. And, it's nice to come back and meet them and share impressions. That leave me with the issue of coming back which is always tough.

Haha yeah that's a real hassle! Have you tried using packing cubes or sacks? I find that packing your stuff into separate bags is very helpful, especially with your electronics!

The only thing I hate is packing and unpacking. I can never remember where I put things in my bag which means I empty it completely... just to find it was actually in a zipped pocket on the side!

Love this post since this is blog that promotes travel.
Nonetheless, to contribute to the discussion I also find I dislike keeping track of stuff. Although I try to pack light with only one bag, I am always paranoid I've left something valuable in a hostel common room or tourist hot spot bathroom. I suppose just good motivation to pack only the essentials. Nathan just posted a great article about this which people should read as well. Nice post!

Great article! Have to agree with the last one the most but would like to ad that for myself, I hate returning home and trying to explain to friends and family who have never been abroad just what its like and why I travel. I find it just cant be explained and must be experienced.

good list -- I did a similar post. http://www.goseewrite.com/2010/08/what-i-dont-like-about-travel/ I like the realism of admitting that it isn't all perfection out here. Friends and family back home think EVERYthing must be soooo great!!

Don't worry, I feel exactely the same! Walking around in the big Gucci shopping malls in your muddy hiking sandals doesn't make you feel the prettiest, the worst experience I had of that was in Kuala Lumpur when the mall was crowded with models...

This is gonna sound silly to justify after all the reward of travel. But when I'm in a city where the women are dressed up (Barcelona, Beirut, London), I long for my days of curling irons and eyeliner. I shrug it off and dust off my cargos and straighten my pony tail, but still...Some days it'd be nice to be pretty again :)
